Between the Reels Project
In the Between the Reels project, we return to what is most essential – relationships. Everything begins with them, as they form the foundation of connection and friendship.
The relationships between us – four women – have both emotional and creative bonds. Sustaining them is an ongoing process that demands care and attention. The way we communicate directly shapes the depth and quality of our relations.
The record of our relationship takes the form of a growing letter installation. We have been creating and sending to each other for over a year. These letters of 20 by 20 centimeters fabric squares are embroidered, painted, glued, written, and sewn into long strips, wound onto reels like film tapes capturing unfolding moments. Spontaneous and sincere, each letter carries traces of a week lived. Within them, single words appear – never random – while the visual layer reveals what cannot be said aloud.
Between the reels, something invisible happens: emotions we sense, share, and experience together. They hold the meaning of our collective practice.
The installation consists of four reels made of wood and cardboard, with long fabric strips wound around them. Each strip is composed of joined letters embroidered, painted, and interwoven with fragments of collage.
